All our coaches are volunteers and are committed to providing age-appropriate training for each team. At Doncaster Netball Club all our new coaches will be part of our “Coach Development & Succession Planning” process. New coaches have the opportunity of being an Assistant Coach and progressing to a Coach and finally a Senior Coach.

To maintain our professional level of coaching, all new coaches must complete a Netball Victoria Foundation Course and the club will provide this training. All coaches receive copies of coaching techniques, practice drills, and all necessary training equipment once appointed as Coach.

We also have in place a Coaches reporting structure, which is led by the “Coaches Co-ordinator” to enable an effective line of communication to operate amongst all coaches and their teams.

How does NetSetGo work?

NetSetGo is divided up into three tiers: Net, Set and Go. Where you start depends on your age and netball experience.

Net is for 5 to 6 year olds. It is all about picking up basic movement skills. This involves a lot of running, catching and ball games.

Set is for 7 to 8 year olds. It is a bit more netball focussed. This involves practice matches, footwork and passing.

Go is for 9 to 10 year olds. You will build on the fundamentals learnt in the Net and Set sessions, play netball matches and some more advanced drills.
